DIKSHA is an initiative of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (Ministry of Education, Government of India). The excel format as shown below should be used to fill in the details of the government organization in whose name these IDs are to be generated.

Course Creation ( How to create a Course on State’s Tenant)

Plan to publish courses based on the calendar. Courses can be released in any format such as launching 3 courses per month. Above is a sample calendar with weekly posting of courses on a predetermined day of the week.

Search for the course you want to copy on DIKSHA

Using the course links from the Metadata sheet shared by NCERT, go to the search bar and search for the course.

Copy the course onto your tenant

Fill in Details according to guidelines given in the Metadata sheet

To add any keyword to the given field, the creator must use the ENTER key/button on the keyboard to add that word as a keyword to the given field. Here, the 'content reviewer' reviews the course content and publishes the same, making it LIVE on DIKSHA.

Teacher Onboarding

Teacher onboarding is an activity that will allow states to receive data on the use of courses. Based on teacher engagement options adopted by states, data are available in their administrator applications.

Self - Registration by Teachers

The course progress report gets details about the demographics of the user of this page from each user. Please note that the course progress report contains a column highlighting the percentages achieved during the assessment.

Single Sign On (SSO)

Support System

They are responsible for understanding the problems of teachers/users from their region, solving them and if they fail to find a solution, they escalate to the State Technical Administration. The different mediums are listed below, but DIKSHA's experience in multiple states highlights that Telegram/WhatsApp based support is among the easiest to implement and operate. Training of Support Team Members – This step involves conducting a State Help Desk Team orientation session with Diksha Help Desk to understand the process of technical issue identification and escalation.

This means discussions, explanations and sharing of experience can take place within this controlled group on any of the topics related to the course(s) assigned by the group administrator. Any member can start a new discussion thread and each topic / thread can have the option to upvote, downvote, add comments and save a favorite for instant access from the 'My Discussion' tab/ a Image of the discussion forum link and the actual page can be seen in the given screenshots. In this way, the CRC does not need to reach out to each member individually on phone or whatsapp messages to take an update on the percentage of progress, because this data will be available to the group administrator in his MyGroups page itself, such as in the screenshot below.

Planning for Outreach

Overall Readiness Check

Helpdesk numbers and/or email id including the working time window shown in all outreach communication or on the web page including telegram messages. 12 user-level FAQs translated and shared based on past experience.

Launch

  • Batch Creation -
  • Attach Course Certificate to the Batch
  • Activate the option of ‘Discussion Forum’ for the batch
  • Add Banner under the State tenant
  • Outreach & Communication (Formal Announcement) -

14 Communication about all users needing to be on the latest application version (4.0 and above) has been done. Scoring Rule: What will be the minimum cut off/pass percentage in the course assessment for the user to get the certificate. The course should be published, with a batch ready to open for activating discussion forums.

Disclaimer must also be given to all participants regarding the appropriateness of messages to be shared in these forums. There will be banner-based discovery enabled for the upcoming NISHTHA secondary program, where each state tenant will use a pre-configured banner to help their users find and take NISHTHA courses on the DIKSHA mobile app. For the users to be able to see the 'Banner', the following criteria must be met - 1) User must be on Mobile App version 4.0 or higher.

Post Launch

Data Consumption

Note: In order for users to be able to see 'Banner', the following criteria must be met - 1) The user must be on Mobile App version 4.0 or later. 2) Users must enable the 'New DIKSHA Experience' option in their DIksha app. This step would involve the issuance of an official notification by the State in the form of a letter/circular announcing the rollout of NISHTHA courses from the DIKSHA platform. Examples of the different types of reports available on DIKSHA can be seen in the 'Teacher Onboarding' section of this document.

Once the data is made available in the form of a course progress report, the state must do an analysis of the data to find the district and block the appropriate enrollment and completion rate. The following steps should be followed by the state to ensure a higher adoption of course by the teachers of the state. This smart data from the teacher should be shared with block resources to follow up with the teacher, to ensure registration and completion of the course.

Sustained Outreach

Pinned posts on various social networks and official websites about the course reminding the target audience to view the course, e.g. And it addresses some of the key issues that may have been received using the established support channels in the countries, e.g. As per the course schedule, teachers may be notified about the launch of the next set of courses to help them prepare for the same.

Once the date of the next set of courses is specified, the courses can be introduced on the scheduled date. Below you can see examples of how you can notify teachers about upcoming courses.

This next section has ANNEXURES with topic specific details and steps

Steps on how to create Assessment on DIKSHA

To randomize the questions from the entire set of questions, select a specific number to be displayed to the user from the display drop-down menu. Make sure the content type is set to "self-rating" on the rating details screen, otherwise user response data may not be captured correctly. A user may perform the assessment multiple times, but their best attempt or best attempt will be recorded in the data report.

If you plan to add a certificate of merit, make sure the course assessment takes place at the end of the course. Please note: All questions must be in ONE SLIDE for the randomization functionality to work. For detailed information on this topic, please refer to the links to PDFs/video tutorials in the following appendix.

Steps on How to Stitch Resources into a Course

At the start of creation, a pop-up will appear asking how many attempts the user has during this assessment, ensuring that it is entered correctly before continuing. Once this is done, the next step is to submit the course for review and publication. Log in to the reviewer account at DIKSHA → Workspace → For Review → Reviewer Check Course Content → Publish Course.

This ID is unique to the course and is convenient for anyone to remember and retrieve the course. This do_id can be inserted into the search field on DIKSHA to find the course. For detailed input on this topic please refer to the link video tutorials in the next appendix.

Approach on Outreach

Based on DIKSHA's experience with many teacher training programs, states are recommended to train their teachers in the following areas before launching the program. How to create yourself on DIKSHA / How to create your username and password / How to create your login ID and password. As a plan for continuous engagement after launch, the state can use this page as a single repository for all updates.

To popularize this page, State may send links to the web page in its communications to teachers. This can be done on a regular basis and can be part of all communications so that over time teachers become accustomed to referencing the web page. Dashboard showing indicators such as district progress, number of teacher training courses completed, etc. can be added over time.

DIKSHA Resource Creation Guidelines & Formats

Prerequisite must be ensured by entering the regional language text everywhere else in the frame. Responsiveness to screen resolution on the platform must be verified by the creator and necessary corrections must be made before it is included in the course. This is a functionality that is available at the batch level and must be enabled manually.

Example - This can be used by a CRC to assign courses and track the progress of the group of teachers from that cluster. But this function can be used up to one day before the batch end date. This would mean that the end date cannot be extended on the last day of the batch.
