Stage Pest/Diseases Agricultural Advisories

Jhum Rice Tillering stage  Farmers should grow nitrogen fixing leguminous crops like, red gram, soyabean, rice bean as intercrop or on the field bund to maintain soil fertility. Small quantity of urea @35 kg/ha as top dressing after 20-25 days after sowing may be apply.

Blast  High relative humidity with intermittent rain is favourable for development of blast in rice, If blast spot are seen farmers are advised to apply mancozeb@ 2g/l or carbendezime @ 1g/l. Spraying should be done in sunny days and avoid if rain is predicted.

Sali/Kharif Rice

Nursery/Main field preparation

Nursery preparation

 Start preparing raised nursery bed of size 10m (length) × 1.25m (width) × 10cm (height) with 30cm wide channel between the two seed beds. Apply cow dung or compost

@10-15kg/seed bed plus a starter dose of urea 80g, SSP 225g, MOP 40g per seed bed. Collect seed of HYV like Shahsarang -1, Lampnah, IR 64, Ranjit, RCPL 1-412, RCPL 1-410, RCPL 1-411 & local varieties like Mendri, Manipuri, etc and keep ready for sowing. A seed rate of 650-1000g is required for each bed. (Nursery area of 500- 600 sqm. is sufficient for transplanting of 1ha).

Main field preparation

 Repair old bunds by maintaining 20-30 cm height in lowland and 15-20 cm in upland. As sufficient moisture is available due to heavy rain in the previous days, farmers should start ploughing of their main field.

Maize Knee high stage  Weeding, top dressing of urea @ 44kg/ha for HYV and 33Kg for local varieties followed by earthing up should be done at 30-40 DAG. Mulches like straw, grasses can be provided in between the rows to reduce evaporation loses of moisture.

Potato Tuber initiation (For high altitude

Region)

 Spray chlorpyriphos 20 EC @ 1ml/litre for control of cut worms in potato.

 Cover the soil with locally available biomass like straw, grasses, etc for in situ moisture conservation.

Suggestion: Contact nearby State Agril. Staff or KVK staff for necessary help and suggestion.

Okra Flowering initiation

White fly/

Aphids

 Farmers are advised to apply the remaining dose of urea @ 44kg/ha at 30 days after sowing. Increased in temperature and humidity is congenial for attack of White fly & Aphids.

If attack is seen farmers are advised to spray Dimethoate 30 EC 2ml/l combined with Neem Seed Kernal Extract 5%.

Brinjal Vegetative stage  Apply urea @108 kg/ha after hand weeding at 30DAT.

Provide mulching materials like straw, grasses, etc to reduce evaporation loses.

Tomato Flower initiation stage  Apply urea @86 kg/ha after hand weeding at 20 & 45 DAT. Stake the plants with 1-1.5 m tall bamboo sticks at 30 DAT.

Bottle Gourd/

Ash Gourd

Vegetative to flowering initiation

stage

 Mulching with locally available materials like straw, grasses may be done to reduce evaporation loses.

 Support of bamboo structure for climbing upward may be raised for proper growth.

Ginger/

turmeric

Planting to Establishment stage

 Continue planting of ginger/turmeric like Turmeric:

Lakadong, RCT-1; Ginger: Nadia, Poona, Riodegenerio, etc. Maintain a seed rate of 2000-2500kg/ha for turmeric &

1400-1600 Kg/ha for ginger. Before sowing treat the seed rhizomes with Indofil M -45 or Captaf @ 0.3% & plant at a spacing of 25cm x 25-30cm and turmeric at 25cm X 40- 45cm.

 Make channels between the beds for draining of excess water and weeding.

Water Harvesting

 Take measures to conserve rain water by used of mulching materials, digging of ponds, Jalkund, etc.

Plant Protection

Moths  Collect white grub beetles and Lepidopteran moths through light trap and destroy them.

Khasi Mandarin

All stage  Paste the trunk of Mandarin tree upto 2m height with 1%

Carbaryl 150 WP (20g/l).

 Collect and destroy the trunk borer adults by shaking the branches 2-3 times at 10 days interval.

Animal Sciences

Poultry All stages  Keep the poultry house dry and avoid dampness. Present weather is congenial for development of diseases like Coccidiosis, so as a preventive measure gives Amprolium

@ 25-65 mg/kg feed once a day.

Piggery All stages  Pig shed/stay should keep dry and avoid dampness during rainy days. Repair the roof of pig stay to protect from rain as medium to heavy rain is expected. Provide additional feed ingredients like broken rice, wheat bran, broken maize along with kitchen waste, mineral mixture (20g/day).

Cattle &

Buffaloes

All stage  Kept the animal indoor and avoid grazing in rain. Keep the animal shed dry & clean and avoid dampness. Provide balanced feed and clean water.

 Due to prevailing weather condition there is chance of growth of molds (especially Aspergillus sps.) and produced alfatoxins, therefore farmers are advised to keep the animals feeds in a dry & clean place & avoid direct contact with soil/ground.

Land preparation  Start preparing of land with one deep ploughing followed by 2-3 shallow ploughing by power tiller and level properly. Provide good drainage system by making channel in between two the beds.

 For groundnut crop select light texture loose & friable sandy loam with high calcium & organic matter.

 During final ploughing incorporate FYM or compost @ 10 – 13 t/ha in the soil before 1 - 2 weeks of sowing.

Plant Protection Moths  Collect white grub beetles and Lepidopteran moths through light trap and destroy them.

Brinjal Vegetative stage  Apply urea @108 kg/ha after hand weeding at 30DAT.

Provide mulching materials like straw, grasses, etc to reduce evaporation loses.

Vegetative to flowering initiation

stage

 Mulching with locally available materials like straw, grasses may be done to reduce evaporation loses.

 Support of bamboo structure for climbing upward may be raised for proper growth.

Ginger/turmeric Planting to Establishment stage

 Continue planting of ginger/turmeric like Turmeric:

Lakadong, RCT-1; Ginger: Nadia, Poona, Riodegenerio, etc. Maintain a seed rate of 2000- 2500kg/ha for turmeric & 1400-1600 Kg/ha for ginger.

Before sowing treat the seed rhizomes with Indofil M - 45 or Captaf @ 0.3% & plant at a spacing of 25cm x 25- 30cm and turmeric at 25cm X 40-45cm.

 Make channels between the beds for draining of excess water and weeding.

Water Harvesting

 Take measures to conserve rain water by used of mulching materials, digging of ponds, Jalkund, etc.

Animal Sciences

Poultry All stages  Keep the poultry house dry and avoid dampness. Present

weather is congenial for development of diseases like Coccidiosis, so as a preventive measure gives Amprolium @ 25-65 mg/kg feed once a day.

Keep

the animal shed dry & clean and avoid dampness.
