7.1.7 – Initiatives taken by the institution to make the campus eco-friendly (at least five)
Initiatives taken by the institution to make the campus eco-friendly: Central University of Kashmir ensures eco-friendly campus and in this regard, Cleanliness Drives are being organized by various departments. CUK has established a CUK Landscape Cell which looks for beautification of various campuses with the go green concept. Following initiatives have been taken for an eco-friendly campuses. 1. Ban on polythene within the university campuses.
2. All campuses of CUK have been made Smoking free. 3. Activities under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan are being organized throughout the year. 4. Environmental
Awareness Campaigns are also organized in all campuses. 5. Washrooms (for boys and girls) are made available. Special washrooms are also made available for physically challenged. 6. Installation of Dustbins in all the places have been ensured. 7. Segregation of material and proper solid waste management have been
ensured on daily basis.
7.2 – Best Practices
7.2.1 – Describe at least two institutional best practices
Central University of Kashmir has a good number of best practices like: 1.
Shifting from Face to Face to Online Teaching Learning: Online Teaching learning of students amid Covid-19 Pandemic through online platforms like Google Classroom, Google Meet and Zoom Cloud was like a discovery for the faculty to meet the challenges raised due to the existing covid-19 situations.
In this regard CUK has purchased Online Teaching Learning Platform (Zoom Cloud)
which has facilitated the hassle-free online Teaching Learning process. 2.
Program completion within allotted time frame: CUK follows a practice to complete the degrees within the stipulated time. In-spite of all odds the
university has developed a robust academic environment which has made it possible to award the degrees on time. Every stakeholder is shouldering responsibilities by timely completion of curriculum transaction, examination,
evaluation and declaration of results which in-turn helps our students to complete their degrees on time. 3. Post-End Semester Examination Workshop: CUK
is always aspiring for the excellence. After every end semester examination, CUK organizes a workshop to find out the challenges faced by CUK during the examination and redressal are explored through recommendations put forth by these workshops. 4. Curriculum Transaction Strategy (CTS): CTS is a regular feature which teachers prepare for their respective students in the university.
Prior to teaching, each teacher prepares CTS for the course and distributes the same among students so that students know in advance what content is taught and
the methodology/pedagogy to be used for the teaching learning process. 5.
Mentoring: It is a regular feature of the university. A group of Students of each program is assigned a teacher as mentor who conducts regular mentoring sessions with them. Almost 15 mentees are allotted to a teacher for guidance,
counseling and mentorship. The students are provided counseling related to their educational, professional and personals aspects of life. 6. Online CIA:
CUK has switched to Online CIA in some programs. The Department of Education and the Department of Information Technology have taken lead in it. It has helped the students and teachers to use technology effectively besides it has
also offered trainings to students on how to appear in various competitive examinations online. 7. Academic-Industry Linkages: Over the years Central University of Kashmir has developed good linkages with the industrial sector of
the country. The students of various departments visit these industries and complete their internship over there. These linkages have proved very fruitful to CUK as most of these organize Campus Placement Drives for the graduate/pass- out students of CUK. 8. Learning Outcome Based Curriculum Framework: As UGC has
recommended to follow the curriculum which should be based on learning outcomes. Taking the clue from UGC, CUK has initiated the process immediately and DIQA has directed all the Heads of various departments to frame and follow the learning outcome based curriculum. Now, CUK has such a featured curriculum in vogue. 9. Choice Based Credit System (CBCS): Central University of Kashmir
has adopted an effective mechanism for the implementation of Choice Based Credit System. The Coordinator for CBCS has been appointed who is looking for CBCS courses at CUK. Almost CBCS scheme is operated in all the programs of the varsity. CUK is following it in the form of Skill Enhancement Courses where in
a student has a choice to opt for one course in his first semester of PG.
Program and 7th semester of 5-year integrated program. The Ability Enhancement Courses are offered in subsequent semester which is followed by Open Generic
Elective courses. In this way a student has a choice to opt three different courses from different streams offered by three different departments which makes the CBCS more effective and attractive. 10. Winter Coaching Camp: Keeping
in view the academic loss of students due to Covid-19 and being the responsive to the situation, CUK through the Department of Education organized a Special
Winter Camp in which Teacher Trainees of the Department had participated. 09 Lab schools were established in the length and breadth of Jammu and Kashmir with almost 1000 students got enrolled and benefited. This initiative taken by CUK has been highly appreciated and well recognized, through mass media, across
the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. 11. Centre for Capacity Development of Administrative Staff (CCDAS): The University has established CCDAS to impart
technical training and capacity building to the administrative staff of the university for their overall growth and development.

Following features of CUK has made this university a pace setting university of the region. • The demand ratio of students is at the higher side for CUK than other
existing universities of Jammu and Kashmir. • The faculty of the university represents entire India. Teachers from all parts of the country have been appointed in CUK. • CUK is the only university throughout the country to offer
a course on Criminal Justice System. • CUK is among the few Central
Universities of India which focuses on 05-year integrated PG programs. • CUK is among the few Central Universities of India which offers PG program in Comparative Religion. • CUK is the only Central University of the Country which
offers both 05-Year integrated PG program and 02-Year PG program in the discipline of Mathematics. • CUK has included experts from all walks of life in
various statutory bodies. They offer their valuable suggestions which give the inclusive touch in policy decisions and designing the curriculum as per the aspirations of the modern society. • The university has established University Industry Interface Cell to develop strong bond and connect with the industrial
sector. • CUK has developed strong linkages with various organizations, institutions and industries. • Centre for Capacity Development of
