conferred

by Section 25 ⁽¹⁾ of the

Tripura Rickshaws Regulation Act, 2014 (Tripura Act No. 17 of 2014),

the state

Government h'ereby makes the following m1es, to regulate the movement and safety

staldards of

^pedal rickshaws htted

with

battery

or the

pedal

rickshaws without

^battery,

r,vhich does not eome under the purview of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (Central Act No. ⁵⁹ of

1988) and the Rules made there under,

in

Urban, Semi-urban

and Sub-urbafl

areas of State of Tripura.

CHAFTER-I Preliminary Short

Title

& Commencement:-

i.

These Rules may be ca-iled the "The Tripura Rickshaws Regulation ^Rules, 2079".

ii.

^They sha-ll come into force from the date of notification.

Definitions:-

a) 'Acf'

^{means The Tripura} Rickshaws Regulation Act, ^{2OL4 (Tripura Act No'}

17 of2014);

b) "Battery'

^mearts

and includes a ^battery

powered exclusively

or by any

c) "Contract

carriage"

means a pedal rickshaw lltted with or without battery,

which carries a passenger for hire or rewaJd and ^engaged under

a contract;

"Dealer" for the purposes of ^these rule means and includes a person who is engaged-

i. in

the manufacture of ricksharvs defined

under

Section 2(m) of the Act, or

ii. in

building bodies for attachment

to

chassis of such ^rickshaws, or

iii. in

the repair ol sr-rch rickshavrs, or

iv.

In the business of hypothecation, leasing or hire-purchase of such rickshaws;

CHAPTER-II

(Licensing of drivers oi ricksharv)

Necessity

of driving

license:-No person sha11 drive

A driving license to drive a rickshaw unless

CHAPTER-III

Registration

15. RegistrationCertificate:-

(i)

CHAPTER- V Seizure and Penalty

Safety measures:-

(i) The State Government may, from time to time, specify, by notification
