4.1 CROPPING INTENSITY:

Cropping intensity is one of the indices for assessing the efficiency of agriculture sector. The cropping intensity i.e. the ratio of gross area sown to net area sown and it is 1.27 in 2013-2014 against 1.22 during 2012-13. The level of cropping intensity moves in consonance with the behaviour of the monsoon and availability of water for irrigation .

5. IRRIGATION :

The Gross Area irrigated by all sources during the year 2013-14 is 31.64 lakh hectares. This accounted for 50.32 % of the gross cropped area as against 44.94 % during 2012-13. Source-wise Gross Area irrigated for the years 2013- 14 and 2012-13 is given in Table-3.
