the courses of each students of each semester and the declaration of results are based on Management Information System developed by the University (through www.amucontrollerexams.com). The office of the controller of examination is responsible for this system, which includes:

1. Online application and registration fee via the web portal for admission and/or examination.

2. Online verification of the candidates who take the admission test at the time of admission for the superintendent of the examination centers.

3. Registration of candidates for each semester for the courses chosen by the candidates and submission of fees online.

4. On the basis of the above (point 3), the total student data is kept in an MIS system for issuing identity cards.

5. The declaration of results is also online for admissions and exams.

In addition, the university's computer center has developed a portal for students to communicate and manage their database on myamu.ac.in. On this Computer centre issues official emails to staff and students. In addition, the University's official website has a data management system to provide student study materials on each faculty member's web portal and on the central portal of department / center / portal. institutes / colleges / schools, etc.

amu.ac.in). On the same database of academic, administrative, technical, & support staff along with their qualifications, position, responsibilities and achievements are maintained.

Individuals may maintain/ update using his/her login details. On the same portal, Staff of the university get updated information about their salary, funds, leave record etc. through the finance office. On the same portal, university staff receives up-to-date information on their salary, funds, leave records, etc. via the finance office. The management of the database above is based on My SQL controlled by JAVA.

In addition to these large MIS, the University has information systems operating in several departments / college, such as:

1. TEQIP-based MIS system for Zakir Husain College of Engineering & Technology.

2. Self-developed MIS systems in the Department of Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Management Studies in line with the policy of the University.

3. These systems help with data management, rule implementation, floating information, and the provision of data requested from time to time by different levels of the university/ Government.

For information about books, journals, monographs, online lectures (nptel), central library has MIS system and also other college libraries such as ZH College of Engineering, Medical Library etc., and so on, based on Libsys information system. These systems provide staff and students with information about the library and its services, also keep a journal and help control plagiarism, etc.

As part of the University's recruitment process, the development of MIS for online applications and other types of management is underway to facilitate the selection committee cells of the University Registrar's Office.

The finance office of the university handles all the processing of financial data using Oracle

(13)

for salaries and budgeting, etc. This is an independent system used by the finance office.

Therefore mentioned MIS systems operating at the University are the bones of the skeletal system of the University. However, the University is seriously moving towards a single ERP (enterprise resource planning software), which could merge these systems into one point of the servers in order to control the management of the University: financial;

academic, administrative, etc. This move of the university shall be ad on towards faster

movement of the information and a next higher step in Green University Project

1.4 Feedback System

1.4.1 Whether structured feedback received from all the stakeholders.

1) Students 2) Teachers 3) Employers 4) Alumni 5) Parents

Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes

1.4.2 How the feedback obtained is being analyzed and utilized for overall development of the institution?

(maximum 500 words)

The University collects the feedback on curriculum aspects and courses from different stakeholders such as the students, alumni, Parent, Faculty and Employers. University has Academic Council to ensure and analyze the academic excellence at student and faculty levels. Periodical analysis is made by Academic Council on the basis of student performance, faculty performance in every semester, utilization of infrastructure and requirements for quality enrichment. Infact the Council sets benchmark every Semester.

Aligarh Muslim University thoroughly reviews the curriculum for every academic year. The University maintains IQAC as a quality consistence and quality enhancement measure. In supervision of IQAC, various departments and committees like BOS, Faculty Committee, Career Guidance, Anti-Ragging and Sexual Harassment Committee, etc reinforce the curriculum by incorporating updated information and social issues.

The students, being the crucial stakeholders, the interest and participation of students at all levels in both internal quality assurance and external quality assurance have to play a central role. Any Higher Education Institution needs to ensure that students have a voice at various decisions making processes, formulating learning and teaching practices and those views of students are to be considered as the primary evidence on which the quality of teaching and learning is evaluated. The Student Feedback Approach is basically about University practices, processes and frameworks that take into account students concerns of the quality of the education they receive.

University collects the feedback physically from stockholders viz. Students, Parents and Teachers on Curriculum and other academic aspects which is prescribed by the university, further University website invites stockholder to provide feedback online. The University conducts annual Alumni Meet, in which suggestions and feedback is also received from Alumni. Feedback from industrial management, R & D establishments and professionals is obtained through University website. The provided feedback data is presented to the Academic Council Meeting for necessary implementation in curriculum.

Whenever any alumni visits the University, their feedback is taken, besides they are requested to provide suggestion for making curriculum market friendly.

Further, University website invites alumni to provide feedback through online

.

The University has initiated steps for following Curriculum Aspects which enrich the curriculum:

1. Flexible and Choice Based Credit System to learn soft core elective courses, professional elective courses and open elective courses offered across the Departments. The CBCS has already been operational and students can transfer their credit.

2. Value added courses.

(29)

3. Courses on communication skills / Professional ethics / Environmental Engineering, and Employability Skills.

4. Design experiments in many laboratory courses thereby stimulating creativity and innovation in students.

5. Research quality may be enhanced by MOUs/Agreements were signed with collaborative research with other Universities.
