FOUNDER’S MESSAGE
The human soul without education is like a rough piece of marble, and unless the sculptor works on it and removes its roughness its good qualities remain hidden in it, and its fascinating shades, beautiful views, do not appear. The same is the condition of human soul.
However gentle-hearted a man may be, unless he is educated, all sorts of good qualities and graces that are latent in him cannot emerge without the assistance of education.
The purpose of education has always been to enable the man to develop his intellectual powers to the full so that he may grasp the significance of any situation that arises, that he may know the difference between right and wrong and gain the ability to contemplate
the divine mysteries of nature. Education should strengthen his character, help him to look after himself and concentrate on the life to come.
Modern trade cannot prosper without a knowledge of arts and sciences.
Education is not only necessary to keep complicated accounts and for the supervision of factories, but also to develop and popularize the manufactures. If our nation learns all sciences and arts, India still contains so much wealth and such resources as will suffice for generations, but we do not utilize them on account of our ignorance.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE
Department of Computer Science of AMU came into existence in the year 1971 with the installation of IBM1130 Computing System, under the umbrella of Computer Science and later blossomed into an independent department known as
the “Department of Computer Science” in the year 1988. In the year 1980, VAX 11/780 system was purchased from DEC (USA) and installed at the center, which is one of the first computing systems in India. The approval of two n e w courses, a three year programme of Master in Computer Applications
(MCA) and one year programme of Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA) by the standing committee of the UGC in the year 1982 and the formal introduction of these courses from the season 1983-84, were one of the
major landmarks in the development of Computer Science Department, The syllabi for the courses is designed by keeping under consideration the requirement of time as well as the demand of the IT industry. Any department is known by its research work, therefore in the year 2009, Department of Computer
[7]
Science yet again witnessed a major breakthrough with the introduction of PhD Programme in order to provide an opportunity to the young and enthusiastic IT professional to make vital contribution towards the ongoing IT research and development. The guidance and cooperation of the experienced and expert faculty of the department is one of its attracting features which enlivens the students to stretch their wings, so that they can fly higher than their dreams and serve the country. Students can both undergraduate and postgraduate courses have been able to secure a place in the industry even before the completion of their final examinations. The rigorous training
of 4 to 6 months, in the leading IT
companies and reputed
organizations of the country, in the last year of the B.Sc (Hons.) Computer Applications and MCA courses is the major force behind this unparalleled placement hub of the university. There are plethora of companies which visit the department every year for the recruitment.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Department of Computer Science runs a dedicated coding club. The name of the club is Area of Dominant Coders (ADC).
It came into existence in December 2018 and is consistently working since then. It consists of a hardworking team of various B.Sc.(Hons.) and MCA Students having technical insight and a passion for programming. Here we mentor, guide, share and learn from each other regarding the latest technology to give students the much-needed exposure of latest industrial demands and global trends. Although there exist various technical clubs at University, there is a mismatch of schedule, syllabus, pattern, and timing of interactive sessions. Therefore, the students of Faculty of Science were unable to avail the benefits and exposure provided by them.
ADC has always received a good response from the students of Department of Computer Science and is also accomplishing various achievements and recognition in the field of Information Technology. Our objective is to extend the sphere of knowledge sharing and to
regularly organize workshops on cutting- edge domains such as Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence etc. Some of the Major accomplishments of the members of ADC are:
Abdul Hannan Mustajab (Student of B.Sc. Mathematics) won Smart India Hackathon2019, won young scientists award recently and finished in top10 in Hack Data Hackathon, organized by SNU,Noida.
[26]
Noor Fatima ( Student of B.Sc. Computer Applications ) made, deployed management system for a school, finished in top 10 in HACKVSIT Hackathon organized by VIPS, New Delhi.

Asmi Jafar, Surbhi Sharma (Students of B.Sc. Computer Applications) finished in top 10 in Hack Data Hackathon, organized by SNU, Noida.

Zuha Khan and Areeb Akhtar got their paper published in International Journal of Advances in Electronics and Computer Science. Their aim is to ensure technological advancements to rural women with minimum technology build-up and maximum cost-effectiveness through
W.O.M.A.N (Women
Operating Mechanism for Automating the Nation).
Noor Fatima got her paper
"Enhancing Performance of a Deep Neural Network: A Comparative Analysis of Optimization Algorithms"
Accepted (Final) in ADCAIJ: Advances in Distributed Computing and Artificial Intelligence Journal (Web of Science Indexed, ESCI).
