 Located in close proximity to state capital Hyderabad

 Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad located in the district.

 National High way No. 44 (formerly NH 7, from Kasi to Kanyakumari) passes through the district connecting Hyderabad and Bengaluru

 Principal food grain crops are Paddy, Jowar, Bajra, and Raagi,

 Principal Commercial crops are Cotton, Groundnut, Castor, Chillies and Maize.

 Principal Horticulture crops are Mango, Grape, Guava, Pomogranate and Papaya.

 Abundance of minerals like Quartz, Feldspar, Road metal, laterite, black granite,fuller’s earth occur in the district,

 3 Mega Industries with 1267.9 crores investment and 1850 employment and 86 large industries with investment of Rs. 3081.71 Cr., providing employment of 15,516 persons.

 27 Medium industries with investment of Rs. 305.52 Cr., providing employment of 2088 persons.

 4409 MSE units with investment of Rs 1407.85 Cr., providing employment of 45,633 persons.

Total population of the district is 24,26,243 persons with 12,43,967 males and 11,82,276 females with literacy rate of 71.88%.

4. District Profile:

a. General Profile:

Rangareddy District is Located in between 17.3°N 78.1°E coordinates.

i) Administrative Structure:

The district have five revenue divisions namely Chevella, Ibrahimpatnam, Kandukur, Rajendranagar and Shadnagar.

There are 27 mandals in five revenue divisions and are as follows:

There are 436 Gram panchayats and 5 muncipalities namely Ibrahimpatnam,Shadnagar, Badangpet, Peddaamberpet, jillelguda.

ii) Atmosphere and rainfall:

The district has a normal Rainfall of 694.3 mm. The bulk of which is received through the South West. Monsoon during the period from June to September.

The rainfall distribution in the district is erratic and uneven distribution. The District is frequently experiencing late onset of monsoons and also continuous dry spells during the month of July or August or some times in the month of

September, continuous rains during flowering period at the times of maturity is also set back to the production.

iii) Type of land:

Red Soils predominate in the district followed by Black soils. The mandals where more than 50% of the villages have Red-chalka soils as the predominate soils.

Dubba soils are largely found in Ibrahimpatnam, Manchal, Yacharam, Maheshwaram and Kandukur Mandals besides Red chalka soils.

iv) Agriculture details:

The variation in the rainfall, source of irrigation and fertility of the soils is the main cause for the difference in the cropping pattern in the District. The principal crops of the district are Paddy, Jowar, Maize, Cotton, Castor, Pulses and

Vegetable. The total agriculture land in the district is 123398 hectares.

v) Horticulture details:

Horticulture crops in Rangareddy are currently grown in 52885 hectares. The district has varied natural resource base for tropical, sub tropical and arid crops.

vi) Banking Networks:

There are 488 bank branches and 325 post offices in the district.

vii) Hospital details:

There are 31 Primary health centres and 232 primary health sub centres.

ix) Lakes and Fisheries:

The district is cherished with 114 minor irrigation tanks and 1200 panchayath tanks collectively providing 6518 hectares of water spread area for potential ground for fishery wealth.

x) Mineral Resources:

The important minerals available in the district are Quartz, Feldspar, Stone metal, Black granite, Laterite and Colour granite etc..
