Cleanliness Drive at

Department of Physical Education, Aligarh Muslim University under

Swachh Bharat Swasth Bharat Abhiyaan Report

The Department of Physical Education, Aligarh Muslim University has organized Cleanliness Drive under Swachh Bharat Swasth Bharat Abhiyaan from 12

th

to 15

th

September, 2017. The main purpose of this drive was to create awareness among the students and teachers regarding Cleanliness and its benefits.

Under this programme, all the students of Bachelor and Master Degree, Research Scholars, teachers and other staff members participated in this cleanliness drive.

Under this programme different type of cleanliness drives were organized by the Department.

The Chairperson of the Department started the programme by cleaning of the play grounds, then other teachers and students followed soon. Some of us picked brooms and started our job. Some of the students did the dusting of the rooms. And others went to the play ground and started picking wrappers lying scattered there.

After collecting them they threw them in to the dustbins.

Thereafter Chairperson delivered the speech highlighting the importance of

sanitation. In the end all took oath of keeping their home, locality and city clean.

It was a unique experience for all. We were very happy to be the part of this great drive which is going to transform the face of our country for ever. The series of events organized under this Abhiyaan were:

Report on

Swachh Bharat Campus Cleaning Activity 2018

Department of Physical Education Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh

Report on Swachh Bharat Campus cleaning activity conducted by Department of Physical Education at the University Campus from 01/09/2018 to 15/09/2018. A campus cleaning programme was conducted on 10th September, 2018 at the University Campus and Bab – e – Syed Gate. A total of 150 volunteers participated in the programme. Dr. Mohd Arshad Bari, Assistant Professor Programme Coordinator, Prof. Brij Bhushan Singh, Chairman department of Physical Education, Aligarh Muslim University, initiated cleaning activities among volunteers. He motivated students towards ‘Clean India’ by his inspirational talk.

Dr. N. W. Ansari, and Prof. Brij Bhushan Singh, delivered talks to volunteers on the importance of cleanliness starting from one ’ s home to the entire country. The volunteers cleaned the entire campus wearing gloves and collected all the litter in big bags for disposal. The volunteers were instructed to clean their hands with soap at the end. Refreshments were distributed to volunteers.

REPORT ON “FIT INDIA MOVEMENT”

The Aligarh Muslim University celebrated National Sports Day and the launch of ‘Fit India Movement’ on 29th August 2019 with great enthusiasm. The programme was designed and initiated by the department of physical education in three sections.

1. Demonstration of various forms of physical activities

2. 10000 steps walk by the university students, teachers and staffs at the launch of ‘Fit India Movement.’

3. Participation in the grand launch of ‘Fit India Movement’.

The celebration was started at 7:00 A.M. Sharp, with the arrival of the chief guest Prof. Akhter

Haseeb, the Pro Vice Chancellor of the University along with the guest of Honor Registrar Mr. Abdul Hamid (IPS), Dean faculty of Social Science Prof. Akbar Hussain, University PRO Mr. Omar Pirzada, Schools Principals, schools and University students. The chairperson Prof. Zamirullah Khan extends the welcome address to the gathering. The programme includes

the demonstrations of various forms of physical activities by the physical education students like taking pledge, flag hoisting, march past, exercise with wands, yoga, pyramids, aerobics, calisthenics, etc. The idea was to popularize varied forms of physical activities and highlighting the available options. Almost 1500 students and University dignitaries participated in the programme.

At 8:00 A.M. the all participants (1500 in numbers) started walking from University Athletics ground to Aligarh D. M. office (Ghanta Ghar) and return back to Athletic ground at 9:00 A:M.

All the schools students, teachers, University Students, Registrar, Teachers, Administrative officers completed the walk. The university registrar addressed the gathering at the end of the walk and stressed the value of fitness in life and motivated the staffs and students to be fit and healthy. At the end of the session the refreshment was served to the participants by the staffs of physical education department.

At 9:45 A.M. the participants were requested to proceed towards University Kennedy Auditorium to witness the live inaugural telecast of Fit India Movement by Our Honourable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi Sb. The students thoroughly enjoyed the live launch and speech of the Honourable Prime Minister. They appreciated the facts and figures highlighted by our prime minister regarding health, disease and fitness. The auditorium was echoed by their clapping. They recorded their reflections in various media channels and appreciate the Prime

Minister initiative. At the end the chairperson of the physical education department Dr. Merajuddin Faridi presented vote of thanks to all the participants and media representatives.

The other faculty members of the department Prof. Ikram Hussain, Prof. Brij Bhushan Singh, Dr. Rajendar Singh, Dr. Syed Tariq Murtaza, Dr. Sayed Khurram Nisar, Dr. Naushad Waheed

Ansari, Dr. Mohd. Arshad Bari, Dr. Fuzail Ahmad and Mr. Taufiq Ahmad were also contributed in the designing and implementation of the programme.

One Student One Tree on

The students of the Department of Physical Education, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, this year has come up with the theme ‘One Student One Tree’ and named it as ‘Nature’s

Pot’. On 1st October, 2019 the celebration of the foundation of ‘Nature’s Pot’ was organized.

To grace the occasion Mr. T. L. Singh, District Forest Officer, Aligarh; Prof. Akbar Husain, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University and Prof. Zaki Anwar Siddiqui, Member-Incharge, Department of Lands & Gardens, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh were present. The department observing a series of events in the line as follows:

1) Observance of Swachhta Pakhwada – 2019

2) Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign in the Country 3) Swach Bharat Mission (Campaign), and

4) Jan Shakti Andolan and Plastic Free India

Trees play a pivotal role in water conservation and for the maintenance of pollution free environment. Carrying forward the concept of ‘One Student One Tree’. The chief guest, Mr. T.

L. Singh, District Officer, Aligarh with other dignitaries and the faculty members of the department planted trees and plants in the premises of the Department of Physical Education.

Mr. T. L. Singh, District Officer, Aligarh, Prof. Akbar Husain, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University and Prof. Zamirullah Khan, Chairperson, Department of Physical Education, Aligarh Muslim University inaugurated the foundation of ‘Nature’s Pot’. The chairperson, Department of Physical Education, Prof. Zamirullah Khan presented the welcome address. The students of the Department presented a street drama on the theme of

‘Environmental Conservation’. The Chief Guest, Mr. T. L. Singh addressed the gathering and motivated the students ‘Survival of the planted trees’ are also very important rather than planting. He added that this type of initiative taken by any academic institution is observed very first time by him. Prof. Akbar Husain, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University presented the presidential address and educated the gathering that Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) believed in conservation of trees. He also highlighted, we must observe physical and metaphysical dimension of trees and also told our culture and nature are interconnected. Prof. Akbar Husain justify to the tree of knowledge as well as the trees of life express and the implicit spiritual qualities of the tree.

Ms. Chitra Kumar conducted the programme, Ms. Lokesh Jasawat presented the concept note of ‘Nature’s Pot’, Ms. Tannu Sharma presented the vote of thanks. Mr. Mohd. Zain, coordinated the whole function. On this occasion Prof. Ikram Hussain, Prof. Brij Bhushan Singh, Dr. Syed Tariq Murtaza, Dr. Merajuddin Faridi, Dr. Sayed Khurram Nisar, Dr. Mohd. Arshad Bari, Dr. Naushad Waheed Ansari, Dr. Fuzail Ahmad and Mr. Taufiq Ahmad were also present.

Everybody present in the function has taken pledge that every possible inch of the land will be planted by the trees and also to save water and to save trees.

National Voters Day Celebration (25.01.2020)

Department of Physical Education Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh

In order to encourage more young voters to take part in the political process, Government of India has decided to celebrate January 25 every year as

“National Voters’ Day”

It sets the tone for year-long activities focusing on voter education and renewal of citizens’ faith in the electoral process. The Day is celebrated since 2011 to mark the Foundation day of Election Commission of India, which was established on 25th January 1950.

National Voters ’ Day is being celebrated today in the Department of Physical Education, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. The theme this year is ‘ Electoral Literacy for Stronger Democracy ’ .

The voters ’ pledge was solemnized by Prof. Zamirullah Khan, Chairperson, Department of Physical Education to students, staff and teachers.

We, the citizens of India, having abiding faith in democracy,

hereby pledge to uphold the democratic traditions of our

country and the dignity of free, fair and peaceful elections, and

to vote in every election fearlessly and without being influenced

by considerations of religion, race, caste, community, language

or any inducement

On this occasion students and non-teaching staff as well as teachers of the

department Dr. Sayed Khurram Nisar and Mr. Taufiq Ahmad were also present

at this elite event.
